1AC Cuban OilTournament: WACFL 1 | Round: 1 | Opponent: Broad Run DS | Judge: Thus the plan: Contention 2 is China
This specific type of resource war escalates – causing huge death tolls. Plan sufficiently hedges US energy security. 2. Cooperative drilling solves US influence in Latin America and prevents Chinese expansion Cuban drilling is key – China is using it to expand ties and isolate Taiwan Chinese influence in Latin America causes Taiwan war The new Xi administration magnifies the impact and ensures escalation Taiwan escalates and goes nuclear---no defense Contention 3 is Oil Spills Cuban oil spills collapse Floridian ecosystems – the plan prevents and mitigates the impact to spills Oil spill casts the final blow to Florida’s coral reefs and mangroves– even a few days delay would be catastrophic Makes extinction inevitable Alternative methods of containing a spill fail in Cuban waters – only expertise solves Independently, another major spill would crush the US economy US economic collapse emboldens adversaries – ensures global warfare ¶ Contention 4 is Solvency Cuba also says “yes”. This spills-into broader coop. Licensing American companies to develop Cuban offshore resources leads to effective drilling and increased influence in the region | 4/23/14 |
Human Farming 1acTournament: WACFL 3 | Round: 4 | Opponent: Thomas Jefferson Linda Lay and someone else | Judge: AJ Logue Governments are essentially a ruling class of human farmers, statism is their ideology and all ideologies are variations on human livestock management. Government by definition is a coercive institution. Humankind’s priority is to first confront the most evil institution known to man, the gov’t. The existence of war is perpetuated and is a manifestation of the State—it uses War to construct its system of domination and exclusion. Our society is entrenched in the logic of submission, this perspective imposes a pathetic and miserable existence of enslavement to authority. You cannot give in—you cannot give up; solvency isn't the question that will come with time. We solve precisely because we do something. Resist. Rebel. Revolt. And Therefore, My Partner and I declare that the USFG should just not. Contention 2 is Universally Preferable Behavior UPB is the methodology used to test ethical principles UPB and Morality its’ subset, are valid. And UPB simply states that moral rules are consistent for mankind, and the validity of a moral theory is judged by its logical consistency and empirical validation just like the physics, biology, algebra etc. Contention 3 is a Free Society Once government is abolished, it’s economically impossible for another one to arise Contention 4 is Framework This round, and all rounds are key. We must constantly reject the state. A lack of efficacy can't interfere—the logic of submission is the only thing that can doom our revolution. You vote for us precisely because we do something—the ballot is your resistance to the modes of oppression that exist inside this debate community. The 1A/NC was an insurrection; your ballot gives us the tools to do it again. Resistance is a struggle to the death, but oppressive power relations mandate its occurrence The policy maker, role playing system of debate reduces us to mere spectators of virtual realities—this kills all individual agency and forces us to submit to the state. The role of the ballot is very clear—the judge is an intellectual actor whose purpose in the revolution is to give the tools to the teams doing the fighting—the ballot represents the judge’s endorsement’s to effectively rid debate of the state as an actor. | 4/23/14 |
