1AC - UTTournament: UT | Round: 2 | Opponent: Charles Page TB | Judge: Scott Koslow Advantage One is American Manufacturing: The US is on the verge of a manufacturing renaissance – it must adopt the right policies. Plan solves the manufacturing renaissance – Mexico is the key collaborator. An American manufacturing renaissance is key to the economy – it will drive innovation, create better jobs, increase wages, and bolster exports. A manufacturing renaissance would expand the economy and keep the US competitive. Even if manufacturing doesn’t create jobs, it’s still the backbone of the economy – it’s key to innovation and competitiveness. That’s key to sustainable economic growth. The impact is war – strong statistical support agrees. These wars escalate and go nuclear. The plan is key – production-sharing with Mexico revamps the industry and bolsters the economy. Increasing investment in and reducing barriers to production-sharing with Mexico is key to manufacturing – Mexico says yes. Advantage Two is Mexican Manufacturing: Scenario one is China – Now is the key time for Mexico to wrest manufacturing from China. Plan allows Mexico to wrest manufacturing back from China. China’s export-dependence on manufacturing is unsustainable – it makes an economic crash inevitable. Chinese economic collapse ensures World War III. That ensures extinction. Plan is key – increased competition from Mexican manufacturing will force China to reduce dependence on manufactured exports. Scenario two is Relations – US-Mexican relations are at a standstill – economic policies have regressed. The plan revitalizes US-Mexican relations. US-Mexican relations are key to global democracy promotion. Democracy promotion is key to global stability – solves every major impact. The plan is key – spills over to broader parts of relations. Scenario three is Cartels – Cartel-fueled violence in Mexico is soaring – statistics that say otherwise are flawed. Cartel violence will destabilize Mexico. The result will be a global arms race. The impact is extinction. Plan is key to reduce cartel-fueled violence in Mexico – increased manufacturing cooperation makes Mexico an economic power and reduces violence. | 12/7/13 |
